Check out my Mihi!

In the first two weeks of school, Rimu class learnt how to create and say our mihi in Māori. This is our introduction to our class and community. We also created a ‘visual mihimihi’ artwork to accompany our speeches. Each visual mihimihi had to have 3 parts to it:

  1. A picture.
  2. Images that represent our culture.
  3. Places of significance to us.

Those of us who spoke clearly, confidently with excellent pronunciation with great visuals and layout
scored well on our rubric. Take a look at my finished mihi and tell us what you think about it.

My School camp to Wellington

On Monday the 23rd at 7:00am we set off to Picton on the train. It was a really fun train ride. When we arrived at Picton we played the pole game. After waiting one hour for the ferry, we waited in line for 40 minutes. On the ferry we played lots of games like minions and some card games. 3 hours later we arrived at Wellington harbour. I had to wait for my bag for a long 10 minutes. Then we made our way to the YHA. We had pizza for tea. On Tuesday we had McDonalds for tea. On Wednesday we had Subway for tea. On Thursday we went to the food court for tea. On Friday we went to Weta Workshop and then went to the airport. We got ready to fly back to Christchurch but the wind was not being helpful so we had 2 flights cancelled and 3 flights delayed, all together we had to wait 7 hours at the Wellington airport! We landed back at Christchurch at 6:45pm. Here is a picture of me and my friend Jesse in front of the Beehive.

Who is Hamish Allan?

This term my class have been doing a project on New Zealand Artists. I chose for my artist Hamish Allan.
I chose Hamish Allan because I really like 1970s art and also I like landscape art. And I just think his art is really interesting.

The Newest Movie Description

In 1765 there was a slimeball it was full of power, and back then when all  people were chickens and chickens as people it was very hard for the chickens to venture on the quest, to discover the all mighty slimeball.
It felt like a ball of slime, it felt like slime because it was slime but not any kind of slime it was the all mighty slimeball, it was hidden in the cave of wisdom, so the human chickens went out on a mission to find the all mighty slimeball to become human once again THE END.

My Long Jump Technique

I think I did well with my take off and my landing.
We are trying to get a really good jump.
We are doing this because we want to be the best we can be at long jump.

Here is what I did for my jump:
1. I did my run up.
2. For my take off I bent my knees for better momentum.
3.For my landing I put my legs forward first and kept balance by putting my arm in front of me.

A tip for the run up for you I would say get as much speed into your run for a better jump. A tip for the take off bend your knees on the middle of the mat. A tip for the landing push your arms and feet forward to get a better jump.

Next time I will work more on my take off and my landing.

Bears in a car THE MOVIE!

Once, when I was walking down an alleyway I heard the most peculiar honk of a car horn. I turned around to see a car packed full of stuffed bears. I thought to myself "The world is a changing place but this, this is ridonkulous!" All of the teddies stared at me until one of them hollered "Ya coming Teddy, I ain't got all day?" I ran up to the old chevrolet and climbed in. It felt quite soft being in a car full of bed time toys. It was a once in a million lifetime opportunity. It was...
